Altadena library recovery after Eaton Fire

Just as we did during COVID-19, International Library Services Inc. is honored to stand alongside libraries and communities in times of crisis and rebuilding. Today, we’re proud to be part of the resilient recovery efforts in Altadena, a community on the rise.

Despite the devastation of the Eaton Fire, both AutoLend material lending kiosks installed by Altadena Public Library came through with no significant damage. With power and network access now restored, they are back online—ready to serve patrons once again with 24/7 access to books, media, information, and vital services.

The AutoLend located at Prime Pizza is already providing critical support to locals—empowering daily life and recovery in an accessible, community-centered location.

And as of May 1st, 2025, ILS provided relocation and technical support services to move and re-install the MAIN Library AutoLend to Loma Alta Park —a bold and inspiring hub at the heart of Altadena’s comeback story. This kiosk now stands ready to serve patrons who’ve lost homes near the park and is part of a broader initiative to bring crucial services closer to where they’re needed most.

Loma Alta Park, set to reopen May 17th, is transforming into a “super park” with enhanced facilities and expanded services—built in just two months thanks to expedited efforts, funding partners, and passionate community volunteers. It will now house a satellite library (The AutoLend), a new senior center, “Alta Chat” community hub, accessible playgrounds, Dodgers Dream Fields, Clippers youth basketball, after-school programs, early childhood services, and more.

This extraordinary comeback is a testament to the grit and generosity of Altadena, with partners like Fire Aid, the Dodgers Foundation, The Clippers, and the Rotary Club stepping up to help rebuild what was lost—and reimagine what’s possible.

We at International Library Services are humbled to contribute to this effort, helping ensure that access to information, education, and connection never stops—even in the wake of disaster.
