AutoLend is a self-service library lending kiosk that lets patrons browse, borrow, return, and pick up holds anytime - indoors or in the community.
AutoLend is not a generic vending machine. It’s a purpose-built library kiosk designed to handle the wide variety of materials libraries circulate every day. From books and large print to DVDs, games, laptops, and hotspots, AutoLend keeps your collection moving-24/7.
All in One Machine
AutoLend is the only library kiosk that combines:
✔️ Browse the collection
✔️ Place and pick up holds
✔️ Borrow items on demand
✔️ Return materials directly into circulation
All through a secure, full-color touchscreen.
In this short video, Cyndy Cotton, Executive Director of the Osterville Village Library, introduces their new AutoLend installation on Cape Cod and shows how patrons use it to access library materials 24/7.
Cyndy calls AutoLend “a game changer,” highlighting how it gives the community round-the-clock access to a curated selection of books, DVDs, children’s titles, and young adult materials - all through a simple, self-service experience.
This real-world installation demonstrates how AutoLend expands access, improves convenience, and delivers modern library service without increasing staff or space demands.
AutoLend gives patrons access beyond staffed service desks and building hours - without increasing labor costs.
Returned items go right back into circulation, keeping materials available and moving.
AutoLend works seamlessly with your existing ILS - no duplicate workflows or manual tracking. In real-time.
Many libraries choose AutoLend as a lower-cost, grant-friendly alternative to purchasing and maintaining a bookmobile or a new brick and mortar building.

Worcester PL expanded access with 3 AutoLend Library lending machines to include the community YMCA, Union Station, and a Senior Center.
Altadena originally installed 2 AutoLends- located at a Pizza restaurant and their main branch. After the devastating Eaton fires, we relocated the main branch machine to a local park so they could serve their community where they needed it most.
We greatly appreciate all the work ILS have done on our behalf. Having a vendor partner willing to help us meet our goal of serving unserved communities and who shares our commitment to providing the best end user experience is invaluable.
